Cora player and Griot, Basiru Suso from
Gambia and singer songwriter, Inga Thommessen are an
international duo based in Odense, Denmark. Their worlds
meet through the universal language of music where they sing
about issues like tolerance, equality, communication and
love.
Journalist, Elisabeth Rubinfien, from
Palo Alto, California writes:
“The duo of Basiru Suso and Inga
Thommessen is enchanting in its rich combination of voices
and string insruments. The airy flights of Inga`s soprano
interweave with Basiru`s deep baritone into something quite
magical and more than the sum of its parts. The cora – seems
to sound at various times like a harp, or a koto – and again
like the musician's voices, the interplay of the guitar and cora seems to express wordlessly the power of building
bridges across cultures. For anyone who enjoys “folk” music,
but is looking for music that is more than “folk” music, in
its elements, listening to this duo, will be a new pleasure.
